It’s been a while in the coming, and been delayed once already when I learned I had a talent for Mastering, but the first Single I created for the Invasion album is finally available for listening on streaming services!
I just listened to the tracks (because Quality Control) and I’m quite pleased with how they sound. My re-imagined version of ‘Glass Heart Paradox’ has a nice, heavy, weighty sound to it, and the instrumentals are bright and clear.
I really have been enjoying the opportunity to revisit some of the songs RC has created, melodies that I have come to enjoy so deeply, and update them to fit my own Vision (we love a pun). I also have really been getting into the chance to riff off the album contents by mashing up two or more tracks that click nicely into a beautiful new instrumental that celebrates the sound of the album.
In this case, I spent so much time listening to the instrumental track for ‘Glass Heart Paradox’ that I got a little obsessed with it. To be fair, though, I was feeling the same about ‘Lights In The Sky’, one of my favorite songs on Invasion. That’s when the idea for the instrumental mashup thing hit, so I layered tracks in Cakewalk until I had devised a good ‘B-Side’ for the song.
That was about the time I had started noticing the sound quality issues, as well as things that seemed ‘unfinished’ about the existing tracks, and made my pitch to remaster everything. Since that meant a delay of my single release, I ended up finding two more tracks I really wanted to play with, ‘Signal Found’ and ‘Afterglow’, and the third track was ready by the time I got my remastering done.
So, now that City is releasing (Tomorrow! I’m so excited!), I already have a new Single underway for that project, with a new look at an old Voidfinder track, and two new mashup instrumentals. I hope the signal continues to grow, and that others find as much enjoyment in the new tracks on City as I have!
