With a big happy birthday to our girlfriend-in-law, our new single, Inobtanium Girl, has released!
Unlike Miriam, Inobtanium is more… inspired by than about or for somebody. The character originated in the game City of Heroes, and continues in CoH: Homecoming, as a hero of Paragon City. There, the element “inobtanium” (sometimes spelled inobtainium for some reason) is just a macguffin thrown in almost jokingly as something to stop a villain from stealing. But, it gave me an idea for a character. One who was literally inobtainable (oh, there it is… where that extra i comes from).

Here is her in-game description:
Sable Voss was wearing her new pendant the day she stopped a bank robbery. The pendant, purchased for $6 at a yard sale and set with something unidentifiable, had opinions about crimefighting.
It still does.
The pendant mystically saturates Inobtanium Girl with kinetic radiation, letting her shrug off gunfire like a stubbed toe. She also hits with the force of a speeding truck.
You should not get too close to Inobtanium Girl.
Inobtanium Girl would love to hang out with you though. Unless you’re a villain. Or a creep. She’s a great friend once she gets to know you. She’ll always show up for you and even invite you over to watch her favorite show. She is genuinely, completely, enthusiastically your friend.
No, not “just” your friend. Your actual friend. You literally can’t ask for anything more.
You do not have a chance with Inobtanium Girl.
No one has a chance with Inobtanium Girl.
While the character was originally inspired by a gimmick in the game, the song was both an extension of this character and influenced by our girlfriend’s sister, who is aro/ace. So she’s… well, inobtainable, which isn’t actually a bad thing. She’s also a really dedicated friend. So some of the song lyrics were chosen with her in mind— in particular, the Murderbot reference!
